Fruit Will Come

Fruit Will Come

Memory from July 22, 2021

While recovering from my eye surgeries, I got to spend some time at the house my dad was born and raised in. Following my grandmothers death, the siblings gave the small cottage to my dad. For years we have been going up to “Wilburn hill” during the summer and on holidays.

I enjoyed being up there with my parents because it allowed me to work on Bible College notes. But we also got to enjoy the fruit and vegetables!

About 13 years ago I planted withi my father some apple, peach cherry, and paw paw trees. SInce they had started bearing while I was in SVG I’d never actually seen much fruit on them. So it was a joy to examine the massive peaches that were in season!

and also to taste a few of them!!!

Admiring those peaches teaches me that growth takes time….

but it will come.

The thing about farming is it’s hard work, and it takes a LOT of patience! Many of us (myself included) get tired of waiting and quit before the fruits or vegetables have proper time to grow.

In the same way spiritual growth takes lots of patience. And we can easily become frustrated with someone who isn’t developing fruit as quickly as we would like. But this is a big problem because we will start trying to bring the fruit instead of letting God do it.

God promises His Word will do it’s work

but only if we are faithful in planting the seed of the Gospel, and watering it with prayers.

It is frustrating friends that fruit of very kind comes slowly.

But it will come if we don’t give up.
