Dealing with the Fog

Last Sunday I rolled out of bed after my afternoon nap feeling like I’d been run over by a truck. This is normal since Sunday’s take a lot out of you both physically and emotionally.

Thankfully I knew how to take care of my Sunday afternoon fog…..

Slowly I walked into the kitchen and put three scoops of coffee grounds (I usually use two) into my faithful Bunn coffee maker.

Part of the Christian life is understanding we will be weak physically or mentally sometimes (I refer to this as fog). The point isn’t to feel sorry for ourselves since this is a natural part of life. Instead we have a planned way to deal with that fog.

For me that is a pot of strong coffee, prayer, and a good book.

It took about an hour of coffee, talking to the Lord, and reading my book. but the fog began to lift.

Though we rarely feel this way those fog-filled moments are precious because they force us to stop working, and focus on the Lord.

We get so busy with life that we forget to unplug, and let the Lord “restore our soul.”

So we praise the Lord for mountaintop experiences. But we also thank Him for the fog that draws us to good coffee and a good book.
