A few Saturdays ago I took a slice of cake, like two candles, and spent some time thanking the Lord for another year of life. Technically my birthday was the next day Sunday (March 12) but I’d be too busy to relax then!
I had the exciting party and celebration with family a few weeks before while visiting the States in late February.
So that was just a moment for quiet reflection.
I am a firm believer in taking quiet moments to evaluate your life. Sometimes this is a bit convicting because it shows we haven’t accomplished many of our goals. Yet it’s better to have a clear understanding of where we stand than continue down the wrong path.
Most of the time these seasons of reflection and evaluation bring joy and peace as we thank God for what He has accomplished, and look forward to what He will do in the future.
In a way reflection is about taking a breath…..and thinking of how we can do things better.
They are moments not of action but silence.
As someone who is busy (and my minds going 100 miles an hour too often) that morning was an important reminder sometimes the best thing I can do is just be silent and still.
