Life is Too Short for Weak Coffee

My brother when he came Wednesday brought me five containers of some nice Folgers coffee (some were put into plastic bags for packing purposes). This as I’ve said before is important to me because good coffee here is expensive.

My first thought was to ration the coffee carefully to make it last longer….

But instead I decided to enjoy it.

Normally I will make a pot of coffee with two scoops of grounds which is quite weak. Of course, this allows me to make it last longer. But partly because my brother was with me, and partly because of the excitement of having good coffee, I used the unheard-of amount of FOUR SCOOPS Thursday! Friday morning I used three-scoops instead (it still tastes amazing).

This small illustration symbolizes for me a powerful truth…..we enjoy what God provides.

The Lord worked it out for my brother to bring nice coffee for us to enjoy together. He actually encouraged me to make coffee the way I normally make it (he won’t mind weak coffee), but the proper response was to enjoy and celebrate that good coffee instead.

The point is, it’s okay to live simply sometimes….

But it’s also okay to indulge in good coffee!

Part of worshipping God is to thank Him for the amazing spiritual blessings He provides (much better than coffee). And then also to USE and EXPERIENCE those blessings! God did not give us those gifts so they could sit on the shelf and collect dust.

I will probably save a few containers of the coffee for a rainy day but will take great joy in appreciating Gods provision of the others. Yes I’ll go back to two-scoop days eventually (and that’s okay) but will enjoy four scoop days till then.
