Last Thursday my father drove to Greensboro, North Carolina to a shipping agent. With their help, he packed a VERY large box that should be sent out this week by freighter. And if the Lord helps, it should arrive by Thanksgiving!
I am understandably excited about that box because it has precious items…
but this year it includes a special lesson about God’s providence.
This year I shipped items to my brothers house in Roanoke, Virginia. Dad would take them from there to the shipping agent. The week before he was taking the items down, my girlfriend Amy sent two boxes of gifts, and ministry tools.
the first box arrived in about five days
but the second one wasn’t with it!
At first we though this wasn’t a big deal, but the Saturday before Dad was taking the items down she got a message from her local post office. It said they had LOST the package, and were unsure of where it was!
Obviously she became very upset about this since those gifts are important to both of us. Also, there wouldn’t be enough time to re-send them if she could find the package.
Sunday we both prayed about the situation and had peace about allowing God to have control. If the Lord didn’t want me to have the second box, then that was okay!
I was doing a reading class Monday when my phone vibrated. I glanced at it to see Amy texted me the words “guess what”
that’s right….
the supposedly lost package was delivered.
We both thanked the Lord for His goodness in allowing me to receive both boxes. But this is also a very important reminder. Often the things we stress about the most are already worked out by God.
Anxiety is a challenge for me sometimes because there are problems I cannot fix.
Thankfully the Lord can, and WILL fix them if we trust Him to do it.
