Saturday morning I bought a two-liter of coke, and by early afternoon it was gone! There was something special about that coke though. It is the last one I will drink for a long time.
Yesterday I began a two-week physical detox that involves no sugar, soda, or bread.
this is partially to lose weight….
but really about having a clear mind.
The Christian life is supposed to be one of intense focus, and aggressive obedience. That’s hard to do when your mind is continually “distracted”.
So my way of eating needs to change.
To be honest I don’t look forward to this detox because its no fun at all. But the price I pay physically is worth it in the long run.
- I will have a greater focus mentally
- Greater energy
- More will be accomplished
- And time will be used wisely since I’ll be less lethargic
my motivation for giving up food (and drinks) I love is God’s work isn’t meant to be random. Many of us because of brain fog or other reasons spend most of the day rushing from one place to another, and don’t end up accomplishing much of anything.
Hustling looks good, but it accomplishes very little.
plodding (one step in front of another) beats hustling any day.
This kind of growth takes a clear mind, strong energy.
And no more coke!
