For Christimas this year I bought an apple watch and had It shipped in my barrel. Part of my reasoning for this was having a watch that communicated with my phone was cool.
But it was more than that
I actually purchased it to track my exercise
a cool thing about the Apple Watch is you can set exercise goals each day that track calories burned, minutes spent exercising, and hours you spent getting up and moving for one minute. Completing all of your daily goals each day gains accomplishments.
The week after Christmas I started getting into my exercise program using my watch, and it felt good seeing all of the goals get completed. Other than one day that week (because I was still struggling with a cold) I was able to complete my workout.
With every day of completed exercise I felt better about myself…..
And wanted to keep it going.
The first Friday I noticed around 7:00 that there were only 10 minutes left in my daily workout goal. So I put on some shoes, and went for a power walk.
Friends saw me as I walked by and greeted me. I did say hello back, but my fast walking concerned them. So much one of them called and asked if everything was okay!
I finished my exercise goal that day, and every other during my eleven day streak!
Yesterday was the roughest day by far because Sundays don’t give much opportunity for exercise . Also the mental work of preaching and teaching wears me out.
I REALLY didn’t want to go for a walk since I’d only done 10 minutes of exercise (especially because it was raining). But I went out anyways.
Not because I wanted to
But because I had to keep my streak alive!!
A big part of growth is learning to just finish. Normally I am power walking strongly as my watch notifies me of an accomplished goal, but yesterday I was dragging myself up the hill.
That’s okay because because you don’t finish strong every day
Some days you just finish.
