A Physical and Spiritual Health

A few weeks ago, I started to take my diet, and personal health very seriously. A big part of this is beginning to drink more water, and eat properly.

The thing is I was doing well with this during January….

but fell apart in February!!!

My mistake is actually a common one with those in the ministry I believe. We focus our attention on spiritual health, and mental health (a focused life). But often overlook the issue of physical health.

This makes sense because physical health takes lots of hard work

  1. You must eat properly: Eat during the day at proper times, and then stop eating around 6:00 in the evening.
  2. You must stay away from carbs or sugar
  3. You must get cardiovascular exercise (walking or running)
  4. You must do strength training (weights, workout)
  5. You must drink almost only water.

Like I said….it’s hard!

So why put in the hard work?

Because if we don’t our body will not allow us to do what our minds and hearts want to.

God calls each one of us to do a great work. This work not only demands a healthy mind and heart (spiritual life). It also demands a healthy body that can respond with strength and consistent energy.

To put it simply, you cannot accomplish the work of God with an overweight body!

yes, God can work THROUGH US if we are out of shape

But He can accomplish much more through a body that is strong and healthy.

Losing weight and feeling good about yourself are nice goals for a training plan. But the greater goal is being able to accomplish the work of God effectively.

And in order to do that.

We must be healthy.
