Love Tames Wild Hearts

Love Tames Wild Hearts

My mother has a love for all animals (something she has passed on to me). This love caused her to begin feeding a few stray cats at our home in West Virginia about three years ago.

Today MANY CATS visit what we lovingly call “Judy’s diner” every day!

While they are all beautiful, my favorite are three kittens who will come by with their momma . Almost every morning they can be seen running and playing in the back yard. In recent weeks, they have adopted a cat bed my mother put on front porch when the weather is cool.

Those kittens remind me that love tames the wildest heart.

At first none of those cats would let my mother (or anyone else) near them at all. Today they will rub up against my mom, and run up to her whenever she comes out the door. They still aren’t so sure about me (I’m new) but are even comfortable starting to approach me.

Because they know I love them.

Sunday afternoon we drove from my brothers house in Roanoke back to West Virginia. We had left Friday morning and wondered if any cats would be there. Coming up the hill we saw the three kittens along with their mom and dad patiently waiting!

There are people in the world like those West Virginia cats.

They are wild and scared of people (often because they have been wounded by others).

The Gospel calls us to reach them with love and patient ministry.

The longer I live, the more I understand those who in rebelliion don’t need someone else who tells them they are wrong.

They need someone who will love them.
