The picture in this post (for those reading on my website) is one of my favorites during the visit of my brother Michel in July.
Not because of the beauty (though it is a cool picture)….
But because It symbolizes doing ministry in community
For the last six weeks or so, I’ve been doing ministry in community with others. Between my brothers visit, and the team from Trinidad coming the Lord has provided co-workers who helped me prepare for ministry and reach others for Christ.
Last Saturday the ministry team went to another area of Saint Vincent where they will reach many for Christ. I was happy to see them enter this new phase of ministry, but honestly sad to see them go.
Partly this is because I had gotten used to having non-Vincentian coworkers with me
But mostly because now ministry would get back to normal.
allow me to explain…..
Ministry goes through seasons of excitement during times like my brothers visit, and the VBS team. There is lots of work to do, wonderful community, and you can see the Lord at work. These seasons are great, but they aren’t the normal ministry life.
normal ministry is much less exciting.
Actually…..day to day ministry is boring!
Please understand I’m not being disrespectful to daily ministry. The truth is it’s just not as exciting as the short-term trip experiences. However, those plodding moments of normal ministry prepare for the more fruitful seasons.
You see, ministry isn’t about the huge experiences you write about in prayer letters…..
It’s about being faithful in the less exciting experiences.
Yesterday I spent. Lot of time just talking and spending time with Vincentians in the community
It wasn’t as exciting as my brothers visit and VBS team
But it was just as important.
