Friday morning, I was grabbing some items at a local grocery store, and got excited.
I mean REALLY excited!
Excited enough to take a picture of the item on sale, and share its picture not only on my families texting group, but instagram.
What was this amazing item?
Birthday cake Oreo cookies!
The truth is being in Saint Vincent has helped me because its broken my appetite for junk foods (you can’t get them here). But those Oreo cookies are a guilty pleasure for me since I discovered them during my medical furlough in 2021.
Thankfully the price of those Oreo’s keeps me from buying them much…
which was why I was excited to see them on sale Friday!
Birthday Cake Oreos are usually a special treat eaten only on special occasions. For instance, my brother and I brought a pack on our vacation to Bequia last month.

But Friday’s sale allowed them to become a regular thing. I bought two packs, and yes, they are both gone!
In a very basic way those Oreos symbolize the goodness of God in our lives. He takes great joy in providing simple pleasures in our lives that bring happiness.
Those moments of simple pleasure are meant to encourage us in the work of God. Christianity is hard, ministry is harder. So sometimes a stack of Oreos and a glass of milk helps!
Of course, it’s not really about the Oreo’s
It’s about the God of the Universe encouraging the heart of His child with his favorite snack.
So, we eat the Oreo’s (while they last)
And thank God for the joy found in simple pleasures.
