A few weeks ago, I walked into the house around dinnertime and plugged my laptop into an outlet

At least I thought I did….

Instead, I had accidentally plugged in my printer which only works on US electrical current, so you have to use something called a transformer (this changes the electricity to the proper voltage).

The first time I plugged the printer in nothing happened

When I took it out and plugged it in again there was a loud popping noise, and smoke.

Only then did I realize my mistake!

God was incredibly gracious to me because the printer itself still worked amazingly! If I’d turned the printer on, it was sure to be fried.

That experience reminded me of a very simple (but profound) lesson a missionary shared with me

YOU HAVE TO THINK THINGS THROUGH!

Many times, we make decisions absentmindedly without really thinking about them. That evening I forgot the laptop cord, and printer cord looked the same, so you must be very careful about which one your plugging in.

And many times those decisions we make without thought lead to a loud popping noise, and smoke!

I’m very grateful for God’s Grace after my foolish decision. But I also know Grace will not always be there to deliver me from consequences of my foolish actions.

If we continually act without thinking, we will not just fry a printer. But do great damage to our lives.
