A few weeks ago, the alternator in my van went bad. I was encouraged when a pastor friend called to say a local mechanic had a replacement alternator. But that encouragement evaporated when the mechanic took a look at my part, and sadly said his wouldn’t match it.
I desperately went to different part stores that afternoon, but none had them.
Some mechanics told me to go visit a man who had a business repairing broken alternators. I went to see him, and after getting a replacement part, it worked again!
That experience reminded me life will knock you down….
but God has things worked out.
Seeing the worker come out shaking his head was tough because I went from very confident, to very discouraged in moments! Sometimes no matter how hard you try, things just don’t work out the way they are supposed to.
Instead of becoming incredibly frustrated by this, we must remember that God has a plan. That plan may not go the way we want it, or when we want it. But His plan is definitely better than our own.
Yesterday morning my van started to have problems running, and finally refused to start. At first I got discouraged, then remembered the alternator, and God had a plan to work things out for His own Glory.
It was tough not going to prison ministry this morning (I couldn’t transport people, and had to wait on my mechanic) but there was peace in my heart since God was in control. While waiting for him I along with a few friends began checking the van, and saw the problem was just a loose connection!
By God’s grace I was able to go pick up the people from my prison ministry with a van that worked perfectly! And all the way there I remembered that God doesn’t keep trials from happening, but He delivers us from them.
