About two weeks ago, I came back from the Bible college to find that my internet was down. This isn’t an abnormal thing since outages for a few hours are a fairly common occurrence.
But it was still down the next day, I started getting concerned……
in recent months around Christmas a new Internet company promoted a cheaper price. This led to many people changing their Internet service. unfortunately, this lead to lots of problems because the Internet cable lines were not put up properly.
Later, the other Internet lines (such as mine) were affected.
The first two days without Internet it seemed as if couldn’t focus on anything else. So many things relied on having a strong Wi-Fi that I struggled accomplishing small tasks. Thankfully, I still had data on my phone.
After visiting the Internet company, and being told there were outages (there was nothing they could do). I had two choices.
- I could stay angry and try to fix the Internet.
- Or I could move on without it.
Though it was frustrating and annoying, I slowly began to learn it was possible to live without Internet. most of the things could be done on my phone, and there was Wi-Fi nearby if needed.
By day four I was no longer trying to fix the Internet.
I was learning to live without it.
I am most definitely not against the Internet. but my experience over the last 11 days without it taught me that it most definitely is possible to live without the convenience of Wi-Fi.
The problem is, we are so used to convenience that we don’t know how to live without it!!!
So sometimes God in mercy removes that convenience.
So that we can live without it
And appreciate it more when we have it.
I was thrilled when a technician came to put in a new line on Friday and my Internet was working properly.
But I was more thankful for the knowledge that I could live without it.
