Many of you know that a struggle in Saint Vincent is getting men into church, or to help in the ministry. It isn’t that men don’t care about the things of God, it’s just harder to reach them in the Vincentian culture.
I put forth lots of effort trying to bring men into Church
And spent lots of time praying for men.
And then God brought one as a complete surprise!!
I was walking to church one afternoon for a reading session when someone called out “pastor John.” I turned around to see a young man who obviously knew me, but I couldn’t place him. He told me that we’d met at the Belle Isle penitentiary where he was a prisoner. He’d recently been released!
I asked where he lived, and he pointed up a hill. Since that time I’ve been trying to locate him without any success. That isn’t surprising since prisoners tend to keep a low profile when they get out.
Please pray for me that I’ll be able to find him sometime soon, and begin discipling him!
I am grateful for this young man being in the area. But his appearance illustrates a beautiful truth.
God has things worked out!
Often when praying over a need or challenge we can be overwhelmed by it. Satan loves it when we allow our fears to keep us from obeying the Lord. Because he knows God will work things out if we are faithful.
Thinking of easter I am reminded of the women who came to the tomb of Jesus. They had a BIG PROBLEM with the stone in front of the tomb. Even if they COULD move that stone, the soldiers wouldn’t let them!! All the way there they probably talked about how they would get the stone moved.
Then they got there….
and it was already moved!
God had already worked out the problem that they couldn’t fix.
My prisoner was Gods way of reminding me that there will be challenges in life. And these should be faced with confidence instead of fear or anxiety. Not because of our power, but because God Himself will work things out!!
I don’t know what challenge you face today friends.
but be encouraged.
God has it worked out
