Taking the Backroads

Taking the Backroads

Saturday, I drove to Kentucky for a wonderful time sharing my burden for Saint Vincent with dear friends. That morning after putting the church address into Google maps, I noticed something strange.

It didn’t use any highways!

Technically there was about five miles of highway towards the end. But my route completely ignored the major highways between West Virginia and Kentucky.

I know why this happened, the GPS sometimes chooses not to use toll roads

but I decided to take the back roads route anyways…..

and absolutely loved it!!

The funny thing is those roads probably got me there quicker since there would be more congestion on the toll roads. And they were DEFINITELY less stressful! But the most enjoyable part of that route was the gorgeous sights while traveling through the mountains.

Life is incredibly busy and is constantly adding things to our never-ending to-do list. Its so easy for our life to be defined by hustling from one thing to another. There’s nothing wrong with being busy of course, but every once in a while, it is good for us to take the scenic route.

on a trip that means driving the backroads

in life that means slowing down and enjoying what God gives.

That slower life won’t be as exciting as the fast paced one….but I can guarantee its more enjoyable.
