Last Sunday I visited a supporting church which has stood with me for almost twenty years. Walking in the door that morning I saw faces of dear friends who supported me not only financially, but with their prayers also.
I kept saying the same thing Sunday….
it’s good to be home.
Truthfully, this should be the relationship with EVERY CHURCH a missionary visits. Whether they support him financially or not! Because Missions is incredibly draining, we MUST have a large family of churches standing by our side.
Sadly, this isn’t always true
and it’s not the churches fault!!!
As a missionary who struggles with lack of communication myself sometimes, I know all too well how easy it is to become too busy to send updates. I also know the danger of looking for something “exciting” to share in that ministry communication….but those exciting experiences don’t always come.
The Lord has helped me deal with this struggle with a simple, but powerful act. Share everything!!!! By that I don’t mean over-sharing of course; but to share the good, bad, (and yes even ugly) sides of missions so the churches can live the mission field with you.
Walking the paths of Saint Vincent with me won’t be the most exciting thing in the world
but it will make us family.
