A Crazy Obedience

A few weeks ago I was home for a few days, and decided to go for a morning walk. Being on the road keeps me from exercising as much as I’d like, and of course that adds on the pounds!

There is only one problem….

It was 42 degrees outside!

Which if your used to island temperatures is VERY COLD!!!

I had a decision to make that morning. I could have stayed home and took a rest day, or I could go out and walk in the cold. Though it was hard at first, I chose the cold.

A lady drove by as I walked, rolled down her window, and said something to me. Because I had my headphones in I couldn’t hear her properly. But it was probably something like “are you crazy?”

If I had heard her ask that my response would be “yes mam I am.”

Obviously, I am not literally insane! But I’m willing to do CRAZY THINGS like walk in the cold morning hours in order to remain healthy. In this way being crazy is a good thing.

Honestly any kind of growth demands that we be crazy sometimes.

  1. Crazy enough to keep trying when you have failed
  2. Crazy enough to set massive goals for yourself
  3. Crazy enough to sacrifice temporary happiness for future success
  4. Crazy enough to reject distractions and remain focused

And God calls us to that kind of crazy obedience

the kind of obedience that turns away from the world and pursues Him with everything in our being.

Most of the time craziness is a bad thing

But when it illustrates our commitment to Christ, craziness is a badge of honor.
