Saturday morning I heard two boys come on the porch calling my name. I came out to find them carrying a box in their hand.
Inside the box was a very small kitten that looked ready to die
They explained that one of them had found the kitten laying in the middle of the road, it had probably been hit by a vehicle. One of them wanted to keep it, and needed my help.
So I started doctoring the small kitten
- by wrapping her (believe she is female) in a towel
- Purchasing a small syringe since she would have to be fed milk by hand
- And getting her to drink a small amount of milk
After dropping the box off at the boys house, I promised to come help more if she lived for a few more days (was living as of Sunday night).
walking home I couldn’t help but smile. Both of those boys went out of their way to display a “tough exterior”, but they were tender-hearted about an injured kitten.
This world is filled with young people (particularly young men) who enter into teenage years displaying an attitude of toughness. But on the inside their hearts are actually soft, and crying out for love.
Over time those soft hearts will indeed harden…..
So we must reach them while they are tender.
Pray for me as I continue trying to nurse this kitten back to help, and nurture the soft hearts of young men in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
