Your Making a Difference

Sunday morning around 9:00 I was getting things ready for church when a man came into the church on crutches.

Seeing him made me smile…..

Because it was God’s reminder I am making a difference.

I met Anthony a few months ago when he moved to Barrouallie after having a foot amputated. He does okay physically but really struggles emotionally. As most men he is used to doing things for himself and having lots of friends. Obviously losing a foot changed that.

So I began visiting him once or twice a week and helping out a bit financially. But our visits were more about evangelism, and counseling.

These are wonderful works of course! But often it is hard to see fruit for your labors. Though by God’s grace I’m faithful part of me can become discouraged through lack of fruit

Which is why God brought Anthony!

As we sat and chatted a bit before church he told me part of him said it was too painful to go to church today. But he said to himself “No! After all Pastor John has done for me, I am coming today.”

I’ve known what it is to have a ministry that’s filled with abundant blessing

And I know what it is to go through a season of spiritual famine.

But even in those famine seasons, God sends reminders that we are making a difference.
