In May of 2023, I was passing out tracts in the community, when men at a local rum shop started asking questions.
I don’t normally spend time at rum shops (stores that sell mostly rum) but those men were friends of mine, so we had a lengthy conversation about Scripture. Eventually, I took my Bible and laid it on one of the tables.
I thought of that picture yesterday….
because one of those men came into church.
Swatt is a man who wants to serve the Lord but struggles a lot with drinking and smoking. After the service he pulled me aside and said that he’d spent a few days in the hospital with a disease. Swatt told me he almost died!!
This morning, he wanted to come to church
and thought of me.
I’m honestly not sure if he remembered that day at the rum shop. But that moment stuck in my head because it reminded me God’s Word will do it’s work.
The work of God moves slowly, often times slower than we think it should!
It’s incredibly tempting to try to “rush” or “hurry up” the work of God through our own effort. But the Gospel based ministries of evangelism and discipleship will do it’s work.
Please pray for me as I meet with Swatt tomorrow, and learn how the Lord can help me minister to his spiritual needs.
