Last Thursday after having car trouble on Wednesday I got into the car and started for town. I wasn’t worried since my mechanic had gotten the car running great.

Then just about ten minutes from home, the problem started again!!

Part of me was frustrated about experiencing the same problem two days in a row. But following a few moments of anger, a smile came to my face.

Not because my car was fixed…..

But because i knew God would work it out.

Life is filled with challenges and struggles that we cannot see coming. The good news is God DOES see everything coming since he’s eternal. And because of this, we can have peace since the Lord has a plan.

The sovereignty of God means nothing is outside of His control. EVERYTHING is part of His plan for our lives (even the frustrating stuff). And we are promised that everything that comes into our lives is for our good (Roman’s 8:28).

This doesn’t mean everything will be perfect…

It does mean everything will draw us closer to God.

Knowing everything is part of Gods plan is a wonderful thought. But for the smile to come, it must become more personal. So, sitting on the side of the road I began to meditate on the past blessings of God.

Each blessing declared an important truth

Trials did come

But the Lord delivered me from every one of them.

Satan in situations like last Thursday wanted me to focus only on that frustrating moment (and it was frustrating). But the Holy Spirit wanted me to look at the past, remembering all of the trials God brought me through.

And how each one became an opportunity to worship Him.

By Gods grace the problem with my car ended up being small one and i was totally fixed by the afternoon. I drove it home with a big smile on my face. But even if it hadn’t been fixed, i would still be smiling.

Because God always delivers us.
