God Gives Something Better

On July 25, 2016 (over seven years ago) I purchased my first car in Saint Vincent. Since that time, my Nissan Sunny has been a prized possession used for lots of ministry, and personal trips.

Which is why it’s so hard to let it go!

One of our greatest needs at Tabernacle is for a van that can be used to transport people to and from Church. My plan was to raise money in the States that could be used for this, but that didn’t work out.

As the need for a van became greater and greater, the Lord began leading me (especially in the last year) to sell my car, and purchase a larger vehicle.

Though I knew this was God’s will, I didn’t obey because there were too many unanswered questions.

  1. Who will buy my car?
  2. Who can I buy a vehicle from?
  3. What if I sell my car, and cannot get a new vehicle?
  4. And what if I can’t sell my car? (end up with two vehicles)

Those questions led me to do nothing!!

During my brothers visit here, we had a conversation about my vehicle situation. The Lord used that conversation to challenge me about my lack of faith. And by the end of the day, I’d decided to sell my car.

Giving a friend a ride the day after my brother returned to the States, I explained my desire to sell the car, and asked him to pray with me about it. At the time my thought was doing that far in the future, taking at least six-months before purchasing a new car.

then a phone call changed everything!

Just over a week later a Pastor friend called and asked if I would be interested in purchasing his van. My immediate answer was yes! With the Lords help, but the end of October I’ll have a new vehicle. The plan is to keep my car for a few months till starting the process of selling it to a friend whose involved in ministry.

This experience reminded me that God often asks us to give up things precious to us….

but He always gives us something better in return.
