God Has It Worked Out

I love to take pictures on the mission field that displays while I’ll call “missionary life.” These pics share the random, scary, discouraging, and joyous experiences from daily ministry.

Some of them bring a flood emotions….

But none brings more emotions to my heart than one.

In 2021 I developed a very severe cataract in my left eye, that got progressively worse. The reason it become worse is I wisely chose to have that surgery done in the States. The date for my trip home kept getting pushed back because of ministry needs, then the volcanic eruption at SVG in April.

By the time I got on the plane to return my eyesight was around 25%

That didn’t really scare me since I was on my way home.

What did scare me was the Miami airport!!

To those of you who are unaware. The airport in Miami is incredibly difficult to navigate since you have to get through immigration, get your luggage again, and then find your connecting flight in a short amount of time.

To make matters worse, Miami’s airport is HUGE and you usually have to take at least one train to your departure flight.

Two questions worried me on the flight:

  1. how do I get through immigration (that then used touch screens) with incredibly bad sight?
  2. and how will I find the proper gate in time with incredibly bad sight?

But there was no reason to worry since God had worked it out.

I paid incredibly close attention to the signs leading us into immigration. But SOMEHOW got in the non-US citizen line!!! I didn’t even notice till the man in front of me said “aren’t you in the wrong line?”

But of course that was God!

I walked up to the agent telling him about my accidentally got into the wrong line. When he asked how that happened, I told him about my eye problems. He then simply stamped by passport and handed it back to me. Because of my mistake I didn’t have to use a touch screen!

Then came the real problem

Finding my gate.

After straining my eyes to find my gate on the huge sign of departing flights I turned to look at the closest gate. Only to learn my gate was a five minute walk.

Ten minutes later I took a picture of the agent while sipping a cup of coffee. And was reminded yet again that there’s no reason to worry when God has things under control.
