Lost and Found

Lost and Found

(memory from June 9, 2021)

On June 26, 2021 I flew to the States for a two-month medical furlough because of two severe cataracts in my eyes. The one in my left eye was especially serious and left me with about 30% vision in it.

With my eyesight this bad I had to be really careful……

Which made what happened on June 9, 2021 so serious

The key to my car was always separate because it couldn’t be attached to a keyring. By habit I would put it in a small bowl when coming home so that I’d know where it was. That afternoon I reache into my pocket for the key, and couldn’t find it (I wasn’t driving much at that time, but did want to keep the key safe so someone couldn’t steal the car).

Finding that key was difficult with normal eyesight

with 30% it was almost impossible!!!

I immediately texted my dad and asked him to pray for me.

and about two hours (of frantic searching) later I sent him a picture of the found key.

The thing is there is no possible way I should have found that key with my eyes so bad. But in my moment of weakness the Lord gave me strength.

This experience reminds me of the Apostle Paul when he begged the Lord to take away his “thorn in the flesh” and God’s answer was “my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

My cataracts took away all of my confidence in myself to find that lost key, so that I could only focus on God.

They made me desparate

which is why God answered that prayer.
