Yesterday morning I visited a friend who was struggling with a stomach bug, technically this was a hangover from the flu he recently had.
The stomach issues had gone on for over a week when I met with him. The week before I’d offered to get him some medicine. But he refused, because my friend didn’t like asking for help. He happens to be stubborn….a lot like me!!
He tried to tell me everything would be all right, but I refused to wait any longer (should have done it last week).
Before leaving I said to him, “a shepherd cares for his sheep.”
Now technically this man was not my sheep because he wasn’t a member of the church. But he comes faithfully and have a strong influence upon his life.
A shepherd cares for his sheep basically means “I am going to take care of you, even if you don’t want it!!”
We all need people like that sometimes…..
those who want to help
And won’t take no for an answer.
I didn’t bring him anything powerful (just antacid and some pain pills) but by the time I left about an hour later, he was feeling better. And had a very basic reminder from me that God cares not just about our huge needs, but our daily needs as well.
